Our History

Family Business Awards 25

LHK is a general insurance and financial planning advisory firm led by Colm Kelleher in his capacity as Managing Director. We are proud of our heritage; a third generation, family owned business originating in Dundalk, County Louth where Kelleher Insurance was established by Colm Kelleher’s grandfather, Myles Kelleher, in 1938.

The business has grown over the years, both organically and via the acquisition of like-minded, Irish owned insurance brokerages. In 2013, MJ Kelleher & Sons acquired LHW General Insurance Brokers which led to the rebranding of the combined business to form LHK Group, one of the leading, independently-owned insurance brokers in Leinster.

More recent acquisitions include the sale of Richardson Insurance Solutions and The Insurance Shop to LHK Group in 2022, and the acquisition of a majority shareholding in leading Dublin-based Financial Planning and Wealth advisory firm Finance One in 2024.

The Finance One team builds upon LHK’s existing financial planning capabilities and enables the wider Group to deliver a broader range of services in the areas of insurance, wealth management, pensions, investments, employee benefits and mortgage advisory services to private individuals and commercial clients in Ireland.

LHK Group is a member of the Guaranteed Irish community and the Family Business Network in Ireland.

Peter Mc Verry Trust Charity Cycle September 2017

The LHK Cycling team (Keith Young, Philip Finegan, Graham Hohn, Gillian Linn, David Gibson and Lisa Mc Cabe) completed the 140km charity cycle from Dublin to Wexford on September 16th, 2017. The team represented both offices and raised over €3,500 for The Peter Mc Verry Trust. We wish to sincerely thank all those who contributed to our fundraising drive which included donations from clients, insurer partners, friends and suppliers.

Christmas Hamper Project 2015

We have been liaising with Gardai over the past number of years to raise funds to stock and distribute Christmas Hampers. In Christmas 2015, we raised funds from both clients and insurers alike to cover the cost of supplying over 70 hampers and food vouchers which were distributed to disadvantaged families in the Bray, Bluebell, Tallaght and Drogheda areas. These were distributed by the community Gardai in these areas because we felt that due to their regular community liaison activities, the Gardai could readily identify families who were genuinely struggling day to day. The feedback was enormous. A family receiving a Christmas hamper from their local Garda served 2 purposes:

a) it addressed an immediate need for food at Christmas and,

b) it strengthened the relationship between the affected families (and community) and the Gardai.
